Oral surgery
Did you know that the siso teeth do not currently have a specific function in our dentition?
And did you know that those teeth that have not fully erupted, the included, can cause pain and inflammation?
As in everything in life, we only need what is essential and does not affect our health.
What is oral surgery?
Oral surgery is the most comprehensive specialty of dental medicine that deals with all surgical treatments for pathology of the oral cavity, trauma and tumors involving soft and hard tissues of the head, mouth, teeth, gums and jaws.
What are the most frequent dental treatments?
There are many diseases that can be treated through oral surgery, but the most frequent ones are:
In particular, teeth without restoration viability, lack of bone support, with fractures, including tooth – most frequently canines and molars (siso) and pulling of included teeth. The extraction of teeth from the siso is one of the most frequent procedures, no one wants to have judgment, performed when they present with extensive tooth decay, compromise neighboring teeth, when it is necessary to create space for orthodontic treatment and, or when they are causing trauma and inflammation in the soft tissues, recurrently.
It is a procedure that is performed when we need to place dental implants and do not have vertical bone availability.
It is the procedure with the highest success rate in dental medicine, around 99%. Being performed simply, quickly and extremely simple and comfortable, without pain because we resort to local anesthesia.
Cysts and tumours of the oral cavity can occur in both soft tissues (gum. tongue. lips, ..) and hard tissues (bone).
These tumors generally do not show any symptoms, except in more advanced stages (numbness, difficulty swallowing, altered taste).
To make the examination of this type of pathologies, it is recommended to have a routine appointment with the dentist at least once a year.
It is an increasingly frequent intervention for the treatment of gum retractions, gingival extracts, control of bacterial infection – periodontitis, reduction of lip and tongue brake (frinectomy), for correction or modification of the contour and proportion of the gum together with the teeth – gingivectomy.
Small dental implants are installed that serve as a temporary anchor, so that the dental movements can be carried out. With the use of this piece, force is exerted on the teeth that need to be corrected, without the need to work the rest.
What are the main benefits of oral surgery?
Oral surgery is a specialty of dental medicine that acts simultaneously with the other specialties for good oral health and a smile as you dream to have.
In addition to eliminating symptoms, it can benefit the overall health of the body. This is because some diseases, such as diabetes or heart disease, can be enhanced by oral health problems. It is an area that works in conjunction with other areas of dental medicine available at the Clínica Dr. Pedro Mota, favoring a multidisciplinary treatment plan.
